A Spanish city, Vigo, has just this week installed a law banning swimmers from urinating at sea. Yes, you heard that right. A ban earning up to a £645 (€750) fine was introduced for urinating in the sea, but despite the legislation, it remains interesting how law enforcement implements that one. Keep an eye out for this.
Besides, today is International Day of Yoga, meaning more people will be bendy, stretchy, and Zen.
1. Yoga
Deeply rooted in Northern India, Narendra Mondi (Indian PM) today took part in a national Yogic morning… Lol. Yes, the guy is pretty serious about Yoga, and I think more people should. Johns Hopkins Medicine resonates that Yoga aids in Back pains, Balance, Flexibility, and Strength, to mention a few.[1] Do you need Yoga? Absolute yes. Will you do Yoga going forward? Probably not! So let’s carry on.
2. Moment of wonder
Do you ever wonder why, despite knowing what we need to do; to achieve something, get somewhere, or improve something, we never get to it? Before the information age, with technology creeping into all spheres of our lives, one would have thought that a lack of information prevented people’s success essentially. At least, that is how I would expect.
However, take a moment, and think. I bet that almost everyone you know right now has a phone, most have smartphones, and a good number have other devices such as PCs, TVs, and radios. Information is no longer an issue, with the Kenyan Communications Authority data reporting over 59 million mobile phones as of September 2021. Contextually, feature phones (not smartphones) made up 33 million, a penetration level of 67.9%, and smartphones 26 million, equating to 53.4%. [2]
More than half of Kenyans own smartphones, ranking Kenya 7th in Africa with 23.35 million internet users (Jan 2022) behind Algeria, Ethiopia, Morocco, SA, Egypt, and Nigeria [3] (of course). The significance of the internet in the informational age remains crucial, with a one-minute focus on world data showing mind-blowing capabilities in data.
In 60 seconds on the internet in 2021, 500 hours of content is uploaded on YouTube, 695,000 stories are shared on Instagram, and nearly 70 million messages are sent via WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger. That same internet minute also contains more than two million swipes on Tinder and an incredible $ 1.6 million spent online. [4] Check out the infographic for more.

The question of the day remains, why don’t we do what we already know needs to be done on a personal, societal, cultural, and population level. We all know it is good to do Yoga, work out, show kindness, support each other, help those in need, and all nice things repeatedly said in church, in the bible, motivational talks, blogs, and the likes.
We all know the benefits of eating a balanced diet, working hard, speaking up, balancing work and play, and singing in the showers (if you do, that is). We know it is good for us to champion equality, equity, honor, go to the gym, avoid spreading rumors, follow commandments, and be morally upright. But why don’t we all do it? Why don’t you do it??
For me, it remains a wonder why I don’t do it.
In the song Ghost, Justin Bieber once said, “Young blood thinks there’s always tomorrow…”
Adios!
